A resident of Baranovichi purchased the 10 millionth QR coupon via Oplati

The 10 millionth QR coupon through Oplati was claimed by a resident of Baranovichi. She was awarded a smartphone.

The lucky ticket holder was Yelena Viktorovna Khitrik. As she admitted, she was simply on her way to the clinic and, out of habit, bought a QR ticket on the city bus using Oplati. Now, she’ll be paying for rides and making purchases with her brand-new smartphone. To mark the occasion, the Oplati service presented the milestone passenger with a valuable gift.

Baranovichi became the fifth city in Belarus to launch public transport equipped with the Oplati mobile payment system. Back in March 2020, the first route with QR code payment went into operation. The service quickly gained popularity, with both residents and visitors of this major regional center appreciating the convenience and ease of purchasing tickets via smartphone.

In just a year and a half, a quarter of a million e-tickets were sold in Baranovichi through the Oplati mobile app. Today, the number of smart tickets purchased daily exceeds one thousand. Multi-ride smart passes have also proven to be in high demand.

Buying a ticket is quick and easy. Upon boarding the bus, the passenger uses the Oplati™ app on their mobile device to scan the QR code displayed inside the vehicle. The e-ticket instantly appears on the smartphone screen, showing all the necessary information: ticket number, vehicle number, the bus company it belongs to, date and time of purchase, as well as the fare.

The service was developed by the Belarusian IT company LWO.

Light Well Organization LLC is a recognized expert in the Belarusian IT market, providing reliable, flexible, and efficient solutions to support and advance the banking sector and public services. LWO is a resident of the Hi-Tech Park and a member of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The company’s leadership is part of the Council for the Development of the Digital Economy.

The Oplati.Transport service is rapidly expanding. Today, more than fifty towns and cities across Belarus allow passengers to pay for their rides using a single mobile app—whether it’s for a one-time ticket or a travel pass.

“The most important thing is that passengers have already experienced how convenient it is to pay for public transport with a mobile phone, which is always within reach. There’s no need to push through a crowded bus to get to the driver, hand over cash, or handle plastic cards and paper tickets. All you need to pay for your ride is your personal smartphone—you can simply scan the QR code from a distance of one and a half to two meters and complete the payment in an instant,” said Kirill Taleyko, Deputy Technical Director at LWO.

Verifying such a ticket is just as simple. The passenger scans the inspector’s QR code, and the purchased ticket appears on the screen with a “Paid” status. If the ticket is invalid, a corresponding message will notify the inspector.Over 12 million tickets have been sold via Oplati™ in Belarus.
Nearly 40,000 digital travel passes have been purchased through Oplati™ nationwide.
Around 550,000 users are using the Oplati™ mobile service.
QR ticketing is just one of the many features of this domestic payment system.
